DOES THE SCHOOL OFFER LUNCH?

No, however, it is a longstanding tradition that the Jefferson PTO organizes food options for sale for the Jefferson students. In the 2023-2024 school year, our offerings were as follows:

• MONDAY - BAGEL WITH CREAM CHEESE AND APPLE LUNCH (from Manhattan Bagel in Westfield)
• WEDNESDAY - CHICKEN FINGERS LUNCH (from Hershey's in Westfield)
• THURSDAY - PIZZA LUNCH (from Outta Hand Pizza in Westfield)
• FRIDAYS - SUBS (from Hershey’s in Westfield)

PTO food days do not begin until October of each school year in a typical year. Sign-ups usually go out in September. Please note that the sign-up period will stay open for a period of time, and at that time, you will have the option to opt in and purchase the lunch for the day you select FOR THE HALF YEAR. In other words, if you decide to enroll in Monday Bagel Lunches, you would purchase this option in September FOR THE WHOLE HALF YEAR. You will not have another opportunity to enroll again until the mid year point.

WHO ATTENDS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT?

Typically, it is for parents/guardians to meet with the teacher of their student, and students do not attend.

HOW DO I JOIN THE PTO?

Right here on our website! Click on Become a Member. This gives you full access to our resources, including the Family Directory. This allows you to see who is in your student's class, and their contact information - which we all know come in handy when planning things such as a birthday party!

THERE IS SO MUCH HAPPENING AND SO MANY EMAILS? HOW CAN I KEEP UP?

 Our Jefferson Journal tries to put all of the happenings and updates in one place. Also, please check out our calendar which has all of our social events and happenings listed.

The PTO has three general meetings open to the entire Jefferson community per school year (typically in October, January, and April). Our calendar is up to date and will reflect those meetings.

Further, we have PTC meetings which happen once a month at the Board of Education building (across from Stop and Shop). Some of those meetings happen virtually. This is open to all and is a great time to hear the latest district happenings directly from Dr. Gonzalez, our superintendent. 

DO YOU NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS?

Always! In fact, without sufficient numbers of volunteers, we cannot do things like Pizza Lunch or other Jefferson traditions. Simply put, without volunteerism, we cannot make it happen. Please hop over to our Volunteer Opportunities page and see where you can help out! Commitment levels vary greatly by opportunity and we truly do have something for everyone. WHAT CAN I DO ON THIS WEBSITE?

Membership Toolkit hosts both our website and app. On Membership Toolkit, you can sign up for volunteer opportunities, stay informed about school activities, use a family directory to facilitate communication, and simplify school-related purchases. WHERE CAN I SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER?

Some may think we have plenty of volunteers, but actually, we are always in need of volunteers. Simply put, our events cannot happen without you! We have volunteer opportunities for all times of day, and all levels of commitment. Review the opportunities on the Volunteer Tab/Page (linked below) and please do consider registering!

WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE PTO MAKE POSSIBLE?

The PTO fundraises every year to make so many events possible. PTO fundraising funds programs (such as STEAM), events (such as Jubilee), and the purchase of items for the school (such as Air Conditioners). This year, our big fundraising initiative will be to replace the dated school playground!

WHERE CAN I BUY JEFFERSON SCHOOL SWAG?

The Jefferson Jaguar Community can purchase swag and spirit wear items in our JPTO store once that option is open.

HOW CAN I STAY UP TO DATE?

We send out newsletters to help keep the community current. However, this site (and the calendar below) are ways to keep informed and stay up-to-date with upcoming events!
